Dear reader,   The Assam-Mizoram boundary dispute, which left six Assam Police personnel dead in firing and clashes last Monday, is slowly becoming a full-blown crisis. In the days following the clash, both states have been flexing their muscles, slapping charges on each other, issuing travel advisories, without any sign of backing down whatsoever.    While this is a political fight playing out at the highest levels, our report  highlights its repercussions on the ground —  how an unofficial economic blockade has led to a pile-up of trucks on National Highway 306, the main supply route for essential items from the rest of the country to Mizoram.   While we have to wait and watch how the saga unfolds in the future, one must look back  — more than 150 years, in fact — to understand the root cause of the problem.
