Since 2016, the Ministry of Tourism under the government of India has been actively promoting the Buddhist tourist circuit.  Its map includes Bodh Gaya, Vaishali and Rajgir in Bihar, Kushinagar, Sarnath and Shravasti in UP along with Lumbini in Nepal.
